Taste the Apple

“Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won’t either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could.”

― Louise ErdrichThe Painted Drum LP

Sitting in our living room, the kids asleep, Galen read this quote to me. It struck a chord with me and has resonated in my mind since hearing it. Take what you will from these words, but remember, taste the apples. Don’t be frightened by the possibility of a bitter or sour taste, but know that you could have the sweetest moment of your life if you just try.

Authentic Weather

Just the other day, a few sweet friends introduced me to what is, in my opinion, the greatest weather app on the market. The moment of exclamation when you see the current degrees Faranheit (or Celsius),  be it good or bad, has just gotten a whole lot more interesting.

upload.pngAuthentic Weather tells you the truth in amusing and pretty kick ass ways. If you’re opposed to language of the foul persuasion, this is probably not the app for you. The initial version is free and it is available for both Android and Apple products.

While I have heard the actual forecast is not always completely accurate for some, it has been spot on for me all week and kept me rolling with laughter. Authentic Weather tells you the temperature and general feel outside the way your best friend would; honestly and without reserve. Go download it now and thank me later!
